The 4cs of Diamond Buying

The 4c’s of diamond buying are cut, colour, clarity, and carat. When buying diamonds, we consider all of the following factors to make your shopping experience easier!

Cut

The cut of a diamond is determine do to it's crystal formation to obtain the perfect cut. These are examples of standard diamond cuts; Round, Oval, Princes, Radiant, Emerald, Asscher, Marque, Pear, Heart and Cushion.

Colour

Diamonds can come in many different hues and colours, keep in mined that Colourless diamonds tend to be more expensive than coloured as they are very hard to find.

Clarity

The clarity of a diamond refers to how many inclusions the diamond has. Most diamonds have marks called blemishes pending on the size of the blemish and size of the diamond this is only visible when magnified.

Carat

The weight of a diamond is measured in a unit called carats. The more carats a diamond has, the more expensive it will be. The weight of 1 carat is equal to 0.2 grams. Carats are divided into 100 points. For example, a diamond with 50 points will be 0.5 carats. Since colourless diamonds tent to be more expensive than coloured diamonds you can sometimes get a smaller Carat colourless for a higher price than a bigger Carat with coloured.
